Cantó doing a first communion photo session? Is this possible? Is he mad?
Well. It’s true. I have made a first communion session today and these are the first images. What can I do if one of my favourite models asks me to photograph his first communion??? I explained to his family that I don’t make that kind of works but I was happy to do it this time.
I don’t know how photographers make the communions now, but I tried to do the photos that I never had when I was 9 years old.
I hope you forgive me the licence.

I have tried to create a contrast between a white background and red poppies. I wanted a soft and peaceful atmosphere for these very small decorative spices.
Poppy seeds are used to garnish bread and savoury bakery.

The spring is here and, of course, the lovely peas are here too.
In this image I wanted to make a green fresh feeling and play with the curly twigs.

This is a commission for the cover of a research and essay magazine called Aguaits.

It’s edited by the Institut d’Estudis Comarcals de la Marina Alta.
Some of you will remember the image from here.

A classic style food picture of saffron.
Saffron was a very important spice in my region (Valencian Country). It was used to add colour and flavour to almost all the rice recipes we cook. Now has been replaced by monosodium glutamate in powder (cheaper, with a big dying power, but with a poor taste).

This work has been more difficult than I thought it would be. I have noticed that some sensors have problems to register red and purple tones in shadows. I needed a lot of extra reflectors and gobos actuing in specific zones to suply this problem. Well, it has been a funny shot!
